Thermoplastic gutta percha: The principle behind the Soft-Core® and One-Step™ Endodontic Obturator is simply a radiopaque plastic carrier covered with thermoplastic gutta percha. The gutta percha is reversible thermoplastic.

This means that the thermoplastic gutta percha becomes soft and highly adhesive when heated to temperatures above approx. 100°C. When cooled, the thermoplastic gutta percha returns to a firm, rigid state. Another heating will once again make the thermoplastic gutta percha soft and adhesive.

Endodontic Obturators

The Soft-Core® Endodontic Obturator and One-Step™ Obturator systems are based on a core of biocompatible plastic, sized according to ISO standards, coated with thermoplastic gutta percha. A single obturator is all that is needed to totally obturate a root canal.
The plastic core is tapered, as it becomes larger toward the plastic handle. This conicity ensures that the plastic core is sufficiently flexible to negotiate even very curved canals. The plastic core and gutta percha are radiopaque.
CMS Dental has produced the endodontic obturators since 1995, and the Soft-Core® and One-Step™ system are now sold worldwide through selected distributors.

Technical products

Moreover, CMS Dental also manufactures the curing and diagnostic light DioPower® and the low level laser DioBeam 830®. CMS Dental has many years of experience in low level laser therapy, and has taken an interest in the subject since the mid 80ies. Dentists all over the world are becoming increasingly interested in using low level laser therapy in their daily practice. The DioBeam 830® is specially designed and manufactured to suit dentists.
