Low level laser treatment is a treatment in which a laser beam at a low energy level of between 1 and 16 J is applied to specific points on the skin or mucous membrane, where it spreads to the underlying structures. The low level laser energy is distributed over an area so large that only little or no sensation is felt by the patient during the low level laser treatment as no thermal effect is transferred. The practical clinical effects can be described as follows:
