The One-Step Obturator is the latest root filling concept from CMS Dental.
Similar to the Soft-Core product, the One-Step is a plastic core covered with thermo plastic gutta percha. The main difference between the two products is that the One-Step Obturator needs to be placed by using a special tweezers while the Soft-Core Endodontic Obturator is provided with a handle to grasp with your fingers.
The One-Step Obturators are easily placed with the tweezers - also when you have limited space.
The One-Step Obturator is packed up-right in an individual blister packing. Using the One-Step Tweezers you grip the shaft of the obturator and remove it from the box. If needed, you may adjust the grip to the correct working length. Place and heat the obturator in the One-Step Oven. Then insert the obturator into the canal using the tweezers. Finally, release the pressure from the tweezer and detach it. After aprox. 60 seconds, the excess shaft can be broken off by using the tweezers.
The plastic carrier is sufficiently flexible to negotiate curved canals and works like a spreader to compact the gutta percha. The plastic carrier provides a gentle lateral pressure during insertion to fill any lateral canals present with the flowable gutta percha.
Size Verifiers
Size Verifiers with a 3% conicity, or taper, are available for the One-Step system and are K-files made af stainless steel. If you are working with standard hand files, it is generally recommended to choose an obturator one size smaller, than the largest hand file used to your working distance.
It is also recommended that you finish any given preparation by testing with the One-Step Size Verifier. The One-Step Size Verifiers can be used for the final preparation as well, since they have the shape of a K-file, but are 3 % (Note! Standard K-files are 2%).
Since most of the rotary file systems have a greater taper (4-6%) you can be certain that there will be sufficient space in the root canal for the One-Step Obturator.
Generally, the use of a Size Verifier may be eliminated when using rotary file systems.
Sizes
One-Step Obturator is available in following sizes: #20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 50 and 60
